How to Fix Microsoft Edge not working issue?

One of the error reported by many Windows 10 users is – Microsoft Edge browser not working properly, post windows 10 1809 update. Many users say that the edge browser doesn’t load at all.

There are a lot of reasons that result in error –Microsoft Edge not working on Windows 10, like windows update, corrupted system files etc.

01.  Restart your computer and then open Microsoft Edge again.

02. Run – Windows Update to rectify problems by updating drivers, replacing outdated files and fixing issues.

Check the updates

Select  Start button and next the settings,

Click – Update & security—Windows Update, and now choose –Check for updates.

In case Windows Update says your PC has all the latest updates.

03.  Clean boot your computer and then open – Edge browser. In case it is working fine then it means there may be a start up service which is giving rise to this error.

Carry out clean boot

Press – Windows + R and type – msconfig and then – OK

Go to the tab –Services, check the box that says – Hide all Microsoft services.

Click –  Disable all

Head to – Startup tab, click – Open Task Manager.

Select every item shown on the list and click –Disable.

Close the Task Manager and then just restart your PC.

Clear the browsing data

Edge browser saves the temporary Internet files automatically to allow faster loading of pages. When you clear the cache it may fix the issues related to page display.

In case you are able to access Microsoft Edge and then select Hub (…) shown like this in right corner at the top

Click – History—Clear all history.

Select all boxes, and next choose- Clear.

Disable All the Extensions

Open  – Edge Browser,

Click on 3 vertical dots and then select – Extensions.

Select the installed extensions and then turn them OFF one by one

Then close the edge browser and re-open it.

Check if the edge browser is running properly and in case it is then it means they is an extension leading to the issue.

Reset your Edge browser

Press  – Windows + X and select – settings,

Next, underneath the section -Apps and features, look for- Microsoft Edge.

Click on the options link -Advanced options so that you can open the window

Select –Repair option, in case Edge doesn’t work properly.

In case if this does not work then simply select – Reset

Reinstall Edge browser

If anything of the above doesn’t work then carry out the steps given below to reinstall your Microsoft edge browser.

Press – Windows Key + R,  now type –%localappdata%\Packages and hit – Enter.

Go to the below mentioned folder -Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe“.

Right-click it and then select – Properties, and uncheck the option- Read-only

Next, right click again and delete the given folder “Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe

Restart the windows.

Next open – PowerShell (admin) by pressing the keys – windows + x

Type the command given below and hit enter to run the command

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml” -Verbose}.

Rebooting your machine is what needs to be done. This will fix the error -Now you can launch the Microsoft Edge browser.
